About Hasani and Danielle Pettiford: A Marriage Story
Hasani and Danielle Pettiford’s story began when they met during a pivotal moment in Hasani’s life. As a professional speaker, Hasani delivered a message so impactful that Danielle, inspired by his vision, sowed a seed into his ministry and sought his mentorship.
Over a few months, their professional connection grew into a romantic relationship. After dating for a year and a half, they married, building a life rooted in shared faith, entrepreneurial drive, and intellectual connection. Their complementary personalities created balance—Danielle’s lighthearted nature softened Hasani’s serious demeanor. They soon welcomed their four daughters—Paris, Madison, Savannah, and Sydney; naming them after cities because we knew they were destined to go places in life.
Their marriage flourished but wasn’t without challenges. They faced the “big five” marital struggles: financial hardship, sexual misalignment, communication breakdowns, parenting differences, and in-law issues. Life added further difficulties, including emotional betrayal, the loss of loved ones, failed businesses, job losses (Hasani was fired from two jobs on the same day), and foreclosure. These trials pushed their marriage to the brink.
For years, Hasani resisted seeking outside help, but a crisis compelled him to enroll in an intensive marital course. That decision became the turning point for their marriage. They realized that emotional connection and physical attraction were not enough to sustain a lifelong partnership. By placing God at the center of their relationship and committing to continuous growth through seminars, retreats, and books, they rebuilt their foundation.
Their personal transformation inspired them to help other couples. Initially hosting social events to connect with others, they quickly saw that many couples were silently struggling. Public successes but private failures, these couples found comfort and guidance through Hasani and Danielle’s counseling sessions, often held at their kitchen table.
Recognizing their calling, Hasani and Danielle launched the Touch and Agree Family Institute, later rebranded as Couples Academy after relocating to Atlanta, GA.
